About the Opportunity
Dawson Wallace currently has an opportunity for an enthusiastic Site Superintendent to join our team on a full-time basis. This role will see you working on different sites throughout the Lower Mainland, with our offices located in Langley, B.C.
As our new Site Superintendent, you will be responsible for overseeing all trades and effectively managing daily on site activities. The superintendent engages and professionally interacts with the Project Manager, Construction Manager, Safety manager, consultants, clients and other personnel in planning, coordinating, and safely executing the work in accordance with the contract documents, schedule, and budget.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Understanding of the contract and scope of work, ensuring scope of work is clearly communicated to trades, and uploading weekly progress photos
- Identifying, and eliminating/controlling all actual or potential hazards and risks and providing documentation in conjunction with the Construction Manager and Safety Manager
- Reviewing drawings and specifications and developing and communicating the 3 week look-ahead schedule
- Conducting weekly progress review meetings with Trades to review weekly schedule and updating accordingly
- Understanding entitlements and immediately notifying the Project Manager for changes and conditions
- Maintaining site files, supplies, equipment, and services
- Attending all project meetings including but not limited to: Pre-Start up meetings, Weekly Sub-Trade meetings, Owners meetings etc
- Participating in developing a cost-effective plan and scheduling for completion of the project and following a logical pattern for utilization of resources
- Maintaining cleanliness and organization of the site including office, lunch room, storage facilities etc.
- In conjunction with the Construction Manager, arranging for and assembling the job site office, materials and equipment, and storage facilities
- Coordinating the work of subcontractors working on various phases of the project and ensuring that all sub-contractors are complying with mandatory DWCL safety requirements
- Providing on-site supervision for all project personnel and phases of construction, resolving complaints and grievances with employees
- Maintaining accuracy for build drawings for underground utilities and planning changes as they occur
- Keeping a daily log of site activities on the project including but not limited to: all trades and number of personnel/trade, description of work, weather, and safety hazards or issues
- Developing a site specific quality control program (written) and utilizing this throughout the entirety of the project
- Managing and maintaining a safe work site, ensuring that all requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Code are met and that all Dawson Wallace policies are followed, while reporting and investigating onsite incidents and emergencies in a proactive manner
- Performing or designating a competent DWCL worker to perform formal DWCL orientations to all new workers, visitors, and sub-trades and being an active participant in the mentorship and development of all DWCL workers
- Overseeing all LEED activities on site and ensuring all tracking and required documentation is kept current and submitted to the project administrator
- Tracking inventory for tools and equipment and initializing requisitions for needed parts/repairs or materials
More About You
In order to qualify for this role, you will need at least 5-10 years of experience as a Superintendent in the commercial and industrial construction industry. This experience in combination with a post-secondary or technical trade certification in a construction-related field would be an asset. A combination of education and experience will also be considered.
